Right, fucking when? Claiming 4chan was something more that a shitposting website is dumb and prententious. 4chan isn't a unified community, it's thousands of individuals doing whatever they want. Some of them did good shit, but that's a fraction of the userbase. It's quite fucking obvious that you either live with some idealized idea of 4chan from the past.

Have any of you ever had Radioactive materials in your fantasy games? How did it go?

Its seems like an interesting idea. This non magical rock that just emits illness and death wherever it goes and nobody knows why. Sure you can cast heal or some type of restoration but that wouldn't make you immune, you would just get irradiated again the next day.

I always try to impose a Judgment Free environment when I m running or playing a TTRPG. Letting players fuller immerse themselves into a character is wonderful. But sometimes when a dude is clearly getting off to his magical realm of children and animals its kinda.... Going to catch judgment. This doesn't always happen but I have had it happen several times.

I judge my players. I don't know why people think you can just turn that sort of thing off. Obv you don't want to smother your players with the evil eye or something but keeping tabs on what directions they're moving is an important way to ensure fun and acceptable play. People who want "no-judgement tables" are either people are embarrassed to RP, which the only that fixes that is experience, or to do fucked up shit, and I don't want fucked up shit in my game.

I like to put my players in a tough spot and see how they work it out. It's usually fun for everyone.
I had a player decide once that the solution to saving a kid was to murder another kid to take his place. Before he brought it up, child death wasn't in the plot.
First I was shocked. Then I judged.

I want my players to earn their victory through challenge, and feel all the more accomplished for it. But damn, is it hard sometimes.

Plastic Battleships When Edition?

This is a general thread for Dropzone Commander and Dropfleet Commander sci-fi wargames, created by Hawk Wargames and currently published by TTCombat.
Dropzone Commander is a 10mm scale sci-fi wargame focusing on highly air-mobile futuristic forces and objective-oriented scenarios.
Dropfleet Commander is its fleet-scale companion game, featuring spaceships in close orbit over a planet, battling for control of ground assets and orbital installations.

It really does make it a lot more immersive to actually play out a ground battle instead of it being abstracted to paper tokens, and it's pretty simple to design some campaign rules.

Still, make sure you actually like how Zone plays before investing too much into it. Starter sets are pretty good deals now at least. If nothing else having a shelf with a matching fleet and army looks cool.

Imperial Armour was the best and most brilliant thing GW ever did. Nothing beats the attention and genuine love and interest that was put into those books. The ability to craft the story, the photos that were dioramas unto themselves, and the other visuals that just made it feel like we were actually in-universe reading about an historical event.

We'll never get another one, and it's a huge tragedy.

Have you seen the way everything is going? It's highly unlikely we'll see another one that isn't just datasheets for already existing stuff. The crumbs from the table, basically. Do you really think modern GW are capable of the sort of IA exploration of the subject? FW and GW are no longer places for hobbyists by hobbyists and they haven't been for some time.

>> No.77094426

the writing was on the wall with some of the founders of forgeworld passing away. It's the MBA-ification of 40k which started by 3rd and has only gotten worse. the IA books have been replaced by incessant heresy wank, and the succcess of all things heresy has changed 40k into Heresy II: Cawl boogaloo.

Just act like the first (the real online one) crusade is just about to happen and the fiction'll be just right.

GW Codex
>This unit is the best and they SNARL when they go into battle and WHOA there's blood and shit
Imperial armour
>This Grenadier is kitted with a Hotshot Lasgun, or Hellgun as troopers call them. They're capable of more firepower but soldiers tend to hate them because of the amount of maintenence you have to do after every battle

My big problem with GW codex fluff is that you can swap the names of the unit and weapon with their counterparts from any other codex and it'll generally read the same. IA did a great job of making me think about very real, obvious things I wouldn't have otherwise, and it really builds the world for that.

>> No.77095469

The Heresy wank isn't even good. When Bligh wrote it you could really tell there was love put into it. I know he pretty much turned FW into HH but at the same time it was a real passion project for him and he made it work. The last book was a mess.

The little details for in for authenticity is what makes it. GW proper just can't compare because what the goal is is for models to be sold. That is the primary motivator. Anything else is just extra and isn't even necessary

Maybe I'm naive but it seemed like the goal of the IA books was to tell a story and expand on some deeper things in the universe. I know FW explicitly made stuff to sell but, as I mentioned above, it seems like they weren't just ticking boxes for what was needed. Like Bedford and Phil went, "oi you know what would be brilliant? WW1 imitations! Warwick, get writing!" Models were made by people who actually gave a damn and enjoyed it.

Kind of, keep reading.

A DM's only valid reason for denying flying characters is if a major challenge that the campaign is predicated on can be easily circumvented by allowing a single person to fly.
Very few campaigns live or die on such challenges, and therefore if your DM gives you some cockamamie "hur dur flying speed at level 1" bullshit then he needs to pull his head out of his ass.

What most DM's mean when they say "I dont allow flying characters" is actually "I don't wanna put up with the stupid bullshit a flying character can decide to do." which is fair.
But, here's a solution, maybe don't play with people that do the aforementioned stupid shit.

Pic related is my one and only bird character I've ever played, Zolfo. Loved him. The penultimate smart-mouthed pretentious fuckboy. Since my group only plays 5e, I had to adapt him into a Swashbuckler Rogue and Fighter multiclass - he dual-wielded rapiers.

Actually, those are a good shout. The books aren't very good but they have somewhat compelling protagonists. Pretty slim pickings though.

Sometimes I feel like people that can actually write should send something in to WotC and just be like "Look, here, I can write. Hire me and you'll finally have someone that can write again." It just seems ridiculous that WotC cannot seem to find good writers.

>> No.77130510

>It just seems ridiculous that WotC cannot seem to find good writers.
I think the main problem is that they hop between worlds too fast. There's no time to properly dive into any given plane's intricacies, and if there's character development, it always has to be rushed so that they can move on to the next theme park. This was less of a problem in the "three sets per block" era, but it's become horrendously exacerbated ever since they cut down on the number of sets.

Probably don't care as long as it's a good guy using the imagery.

>> No.77103417

Yeah, the red cross emblem is actually protected by the Geneva Convention as with every protective symbol, with signatory states enforcing that nobody misuses it in their territory.
Since camouflaging mundane gear as medical or civil defense is the quickest way to ensure that everybody starts shooting real ambulances as well, just in case they're fake.

Nobody gives a fuck about toys, first aid kits, or any kind of other shit as long as it's not misleading.

Only in the fucking States is it protected under trademark law (and claimed by Johnson & Johnson, because why the fuck not).
Capitalism, ho!

She is there for other social reasons then. Sometimes is just to “be the girl” and the attention that gets in a overwhelming majority male space.
